#Shelley200 Interview: Julian Sands

In a special guest edition of our #Shelley200 interview series, Shelley Conference Postgraduate Helpers, Ana Romanelli and Laura Blunsden, speak with the actor and long-time friend of the Keats-Shelley House in Rome, Mr Julian Sands.

Julian Sands is an acclaimed British actor of the stage, film, and television, and a long-time friend of the Keats-Shelley House in Rome. Sands famously portrayed Percy Bysshe Shelley in Ken Russell’s Gothic (1986), and has also starred in The Killing Fields (1984), A Room with a View (1985), and Warlock (1989), to name but a few roles in his extensive filmography. Sands is an accomplished reader of poetry, and regularly reads for the Keats-Shelley House. Sands is a patron for the Shelley Memorial Project in Horsham and an ambassador of #KeatsShelley200, the Keats-Shelley House in Rome’s bicentenary initiative.
